Review by Carlo De Castris

Without Support is the latest album from Joyless, a Norwegian black metal band. The album was released on April 2, 2021, and features eight tracks that showcase the band's signature sound.

The album opens with "Entangled in Fog," a track that sets the tone for the rest of the album. The song features heavy guitar riffs and blast beats, creating a dark and ominous atmosphere. The vocals are harsh and aggressive, adding to the overall intensity of the track.

The second track, "Resurrection of the Beast," continues the trend of heavy guitar riffs and aggressive vocals. The song features a slower tempo, allowing the listener to fully appreciate the intricate guitar work.

The album's title track, "Without Support," is a standout. The song is fast-paced and features some of the album's most impressive guitar work. The vocals are also particularly strong on this track, showcasing the band's ability to create a sense of desperation and despair.

Other standout tracks on the album include "Born Against," "Lay Down in Ashes," and "Behind the Clouds." Each of these tracks features unique elements that set them apart from the rest of the album, while still maintaining the band's signature sound.

Summary by Carlo De Castris

Without Support is a solid album that will appeal to fans of Joyless and black metal in general. The album showcases the band's musicianship and ability to create a dark and intense atmosphere. While the album may not break new ground in the genre, it is a strong addition to Joyless's discography.

Joyless' debut album Unlimited Hate was a 1.5 stars album. In short: Joyless were founded by Forgotten Woods members: useless to say that this album sounds EXACTLY like the referenced band, complete with banal and predictable chord progressions, tremolo-driven guitar solos, occasional faster tempos, long acoustic sections and a laughable vocal performance (though more varied, as the singer attempts to be most of the times more like Tom Gabriel Fischer than Varg Vikernes). Also, the presence of a Motorhead cover and some Forgotten Woods cuts on this album is senseless, if not to elongate what could have been more sensible as an EP. As it is, it's mere "kvlt memorabilia".Joyless' second album Wisdom

I think the sentence "everyday is better than the next" has a secret message, something like a subliminal message :D
