Peat Fire Flame Stovies is an album that showcases the traditional folk music of Scotland by the Corries. The album is a collection of songs that is sure to delight fans of Scottish music and introduce newcomers to the genre.

The Corries are known for their ability to capture the spirit of Scotland and this album is no exception. The songs are full of energy, with lively instrumentals and catchy melodies that will have listeners tapping their feet and humming along.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "The Skye Boat Song," a hauntingly beautiful ballad about Bonnie Prince Charlie's escape to the Isle of Skye. The Corries' rendition of the song is both powerful and emotive, with their harmonies and instrumentation perfectly capturing the drama and romance of the story.

Another standout track is "The Massacre of Glencoe," a song that tells the tragic story of the massacre of the MacDonald clan by the Campbell clan in 1692. The Corries' version of the song is haunting, with somber instrumentation and mournful vocals that perfectly capture the sadness and tragedy of the event.

About The Corries

Scottish folk music duo of Roy Williamson and Ronnie Browne. Started off in 1962 as the made up of Roy Williamson, Bill Smith, and Ron Cruikshank who parted company soon after and so Ronnie Browne joined. They also teamed up for a while with Irish singer . By 1965 Bill and Paddie had moved on and Roy and Ronnie carried on as a duo called . Roy wrote 'Flower Of Scotland' in the mid sixties. Scots took the song to heart. Much publicised was the request from the Scottish Rugby Union to use the song as an unofficial anthem for the international squad, but long before that it was a true underground national anthem of the people rather than the more mainstream recognised 'Scotland The Brave'. Sadly Roy (a fervent rugby fan himself) died in 1990 of cancer from a brain tumor although he lived long enough to see his Scotland side win the 1990 Grand Slam that year.
